Standing at the flowers is a figure with long dark hair wearing a saffron-orange robe and a rudraksha mala, hands folded in prayer. To the right, a man in white ritual clothing and an orange shawl stands barefoot, and another man in a checked shirt and white trousers stands nearby; a man in a striped shirt and glasses stands at left. Red-and-white bunting hangs across a tree-shaded courtyard with a pink cloth on the ground.2007-08-09Outdoor photo at a red-earth site where a mound of soil is decorated with garlands of pink, orange and white flowers and scattered petals, with yellow turmeric powder. A man in a white dhoti and white kurta bends over the mound, placing offerings and a small vessel beside it. Around him stand about a dozen men in checked shirts, lungis and trousers, watching. A small grey stone shrine with a pillared canopy stands at left, and a flag hangs from a tree; dry fields, palms and a hill lie in the background.2017-02-03Outdoor ritual at a mound of red earth decorated with marigold and rose petals, garlands of green leaves and white and red flowers, and a small stone upright at its centre. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti pours liquid from a clay vessel onto the mound while a man in a white dhoti and shirt bends over it. Under a striped canopy behind, a large crowd, mostly women in sarees, sits on mats, with a camera operator and onlookers in checked and striped shirts standing at the sides.2017-02-03March 03 20112011-03-03A photograph of a long carpet of yellow and orange marigold petals with red accents laid along the dirt ground under a thatched shelter roofed with banana leaves. Men in white shirts and white dhotis stand along both sides, one holding a long silver staff. Further down the path, people in white and saffron clothing wait near the entrance. A yellow and blue painted building lies beyond the bamboo fencing. The scene suggests a welcome or padapuja path prepared for a visit.2014-07-01Outdoor photo of a samadhi shrine covered with flower petals and garlands, with a large orange and pink floral Om symbol on a square bed of marigolds, roses and other blooms. Overhead, a thatched canopy with palm fronds and orange-and-yellow garlands frames the scene. A woman in a white blouse and dark skirt stands at the shrine. A figure in a long orange robe with a red-and-white bead garland stands at the centre-right with long dark hair; the appearance matches the a person candidate with cues of a long swept-back hair and orange robe, so this is a probable identification. Beside him a man in a checked shirt and white dhoti and a sadhu in an orange shawl and white kurta stand near the shrine. Other people in white and orange clothes move through a courtyard with a brick wall and red bunting in the background.2007-08-09February 03 20172017-02-03Outdoor photograph of a bare-chested man in a white dhoti with white ash marks on his chest and forehead, leaning forward and sprinkling water over a grave-like mound decorated with marigold and white flower garlands. A small grey stone shrine with a lingam-like structure stands behind, beside a black stone basin. Dry red earth, a fence and trees form the setting, and a stone marker wrapped in red and white garlands stands at the right edge.2017-02-03A large crowd of men and women stands outdoors on bare earth at a rural village ground, with palm trees, thatched huts and a silver SUV parked behind them. In the foreground many men in white shirts and white dhotis stand with arms folded, some wearing rudraksha-style necklaces and pink rosettes pinned to their shirts. Several men wear orange or saffron cloths tied at the waist, and a man in a blue checked shirt stands at right. Garlanded offerings of white flowers and green leaves lie on the ground in front. Behind them, women in saris of pink, red, yellow and blue watch, and a pink banner and a poster bearing a portrait are visible in the background. No individual in the scene is identifiable as a person.2006-11-13Outdoor welcome scene at a rural ground under an overcast sky, with a red and yellow striped canopy and banana-leaf decorations behind.
