July 27 20142014-07-27March 20 20142014-03-20A crowd of devotees stands waist-deep in flowing water at a riverside ghat. Foreground figures include a bare-chested man with a yellow marigold garland and a rudraksha mala, a shaved-headed man in a maroon-and-gold necklace, and a man in a red and orange turban. A man in a white kurta with folded hands stands centre-right beside a woman in a red-and-floral shawl with a red bindi. Several women wear orange and red saris. Orange-clad sadhus and a yellow sign fence line the water's edge. No figure can be confidently identified by appearance, so the centre man in white is described only by role.2015-09-15June 02 20162016-06-022004-FIRST-HIMALAYAN-YATRAJune 02 20162016-06-02June 02 20162016-06-02June 02 20162016-06-02Photograph of a large crowd gathered on the ghats at Haridwar's Hari Ki Pauri along the Ganga at dusk. In the foreground a man in orange robes and an orange turban sits near the front, with many seated devotees in white, saffron and colourful salwar and saris. Behind them a stone staircase leads down to the river, flanked by uniformed police officers, with a red footbridge and tall lamp posts with lights. Pilgrims bathe in the water on the right, and a red-and-white tower and small shrine stand at left. A printed notice board is visible beside the steps.June 04 20162016-06-04June 02 20162016-06-02Dusk crowd gathered densely along a riverside ghat at a bridged river, with hundreds of people facing a water area lit by street lamps. In the foreground at left, a young man in orange turban and orange clothing sits among the crowd, and women wear orange, red and pink saris and shawls. Many people raise hands toward the water. Red and white temple spires and domed shrines stand on the far bank beside a stone bridge, with hills behind. The scene reads as an evening gathering at a holy riverbank.
