Outdoor courtyard at an ashram-style compound during an annadaan meal service. Several people in white clothing mill about a covered tiled-roof walkway with red pillars, where steel serving containers sit on a counter. A man in a white kurta stands barefoot on paving stones at center, holding a small food item, while a woman in a white top with a lanyard stands nearby. A woman in a white sari with a red lanyard eats in the foreground, and an orange marigold garland hangs along the pillars at right. Green shrubs, a tree and blue buckets fill the left side.2009-06-25A crowded outdoor gathering in front of a long single-storey building with a terracotta tiled roof and open doorways decorated with marigold garlands in orange and yellow. Many people in white ritual clothing, mostly men in white kurtas and dhotis, some with saffron-coloured shawls and a few women in white and in a patterned sari, mingle and chat, several holding paper cups. A man in the foreground wears a red lanyard badge and white shirt, and a man at centre wears a rudraksha mala. A small tree and green lawn with tiled walkway lie in front of the building. The scene suggests a celebratory social gathering with refreshments.2009-06-25June 25 20092009-06-25June 25 20092009-06-25A photograph of a walkway between two whitewashed ashram buildings during an annadaan celebration. A stone-paved path runs down a grass strip lined with small shrubs, with a crowd of mostly white-clad devotees walking and standing along it. On the right, a covered terrace with a red tiled roof is hung with marigold and yellow flower garlands. A man in a saffron-orange robe stands near the centre, with several devotees in white kurtas and dhotis. A young girl in an orange headband and orange clothing stands at the lower right, and a man in a white T-shirt with a lanyard holds a steel bowl. A green-roofed building and a tree sit at the back, and white plastic chairs are visible at the lower left. About 40 people are visible.2009-06-25Photo 82861022009-01-01 +2 copiesJune 18 20092009-06-18June 25 20092009-06-25September 10 20122012-09-10A courtyard gathering beneath a large tent canopy with multicoloured bunting in red, green, yellow, blue and orange. Many men and women in white dhotis, saris and kurtas wear saffron-orange shawls over their shoulders. Some stand in conversation while others sit on white plastic chairs near steel vessels and buckets, apparently serving or receiving food. A white multi-storey building with arched balconies and strings of small lights forms the backdrop. No clearly identifiable a person figure is visible in this crowd.2008-08-02June 01 20092009-06-01June 17 20092009-06-17
