April 30 20152015-04-30April 30 20152015-04-30Photograph of a ritual abhishekam at a temple shrine. Two priests in saffron-red dhotis and red turbans stand at left; the central man wears a red-orange shawl, white and red garlands and a rudraksha-style mala, holding a white cloth bundle, while a younger attendant in red and gold assists beside him. Behind them a golden-yellow altar cloth supports three deity murtis draped in white-pink-red flower garlands, with a silver crown and jewelled ornaments on the central image. A clear spatika-style lingam sits on a dark stone base with white and red flowers, and silver bowls of offerings are held at right. Wood-panelled walls form the backdrop.2014-06-29 +1 copiesA photograph of a temple shrine decorated with orange and red curtains and banana leaves. Two deity murtis stand at the centre, adorned with red and yellow marigold garlands and a golden arch behind them. In front, several people in saffron-orange robes perform a ritual: one standing woman in a long orange sari pours or offers something over a central linga-shaped object, while a man in orange and two others attend nearby. A white marble figure sits on the platform, with brass oil lamps and a kalasha at the sides and pink flowers on the shrine. The scene suggests an abhishekam at the shrine. No clearly identifiable a person figure is evident among the attendants.2010-02-12 +1 copiesMay 07 20172017-05-07May 07 20172017-05-07May 07 20172017-05-07May 07 20172017-05-07A woman in saffron-orange robes stands at left holding a lit oil lamp (aarti) toward a decorated deity murti with gold crowns and garlands of yellow, purple and red flowers. The deities are seated under a gilded arch in a temple-like pavilion. In the foreground a small figure in orange and a white shawl with garlands sits beside ritual brass vessels, and a seated man in orange robes sits at the left edge. A brass lamp stand and kalasha-type vessels surround the altar. Some garland-decorated golden structure is placed before the murti.2009-12-30A temple ritual before an ornate gilded shrine holding a pair of deity murtis, one crowned with a red and gold headdress and the other in blue and gold attire, both garlanded with marigold and white flower strands. A man in orange robes with a white forehead mark leans in, draping an orange cloth over a small white murti seated in front. Two other orange-clad attendants stand behind; one holds a brass tray of flowers. Brass oil lamps, a kalasha and small brass vessels sit on a marble platform. The cloth bears a printed image of a seated figure, and the shrine is framed by a dark blue backdrop and carved stone pillars. Two other orange-robed attendants sit at left, and brass lamps, brass vessels, bowls of offerings, rudraksha strands and garlands surround the platform draped in orange cloth. The setting appears to be a puja or aarti at a shrine; no clearly identifiable a person is shown in appearance-based terms, only a priest in orange.2008-12-27
