Outdoor stone-carving workshop among many unfinished white and grey granite sculptures, including elephant and lion-like forms and carved pillars. In the foreground, an older man with white beard and head wrapped in a peach-coloured cloth, wearing a peach t-shirt and peach waist cloth, crouches while grinding a granite block with a handheld angle grinder. Behind him, a younger man in a white t-shirt and lavender shorts sits and strikes a stone with a hammer and chisel. A standing figure in a pink top is partly visible at the upper right. Dark granite panels with carved relief lie at the left edge.Outdoor temple construction site with palm trees and a thatched shed. A craftsman in a striped shirt and dhoti kneels on sand, carving a large pinkish-red stone slab with a circular lotus-and-rosette motif, surrounded by chisels and tools. A standing person in a white kurta and white dhoti with an orange shawl and rudraksha mala watches. A visible figure in a saffron/orange robe, with a long white and red flower garland, bare arms and sandals, stands beside them. Other men in white dhotis stand and work in the background, and a blue plastic bin, wooden planks and a clay pot lie nearby.2009-12-21A photo of a stone-carving workshop yard with pale stone sculptures of birds. In the foreground a man in a lavender t-shirt and lavender lungi sits on the ground working on a dark stone slab. A man in a saffron-orange head wrap and flowing orange robe stands at the center-left, looking toward carved stone pieces; a person based on the saffron head wrap and orange robes, though only these cues are visible. Beside him a man in maroon-brown ceremonial dress with rudraksha beads and a light shawl gestures toward the stonework, and another man in maroon garments stands behind. At left, a man in white kurta with a mala stands with arms crossed, and a few more people in white are partly visible. Many carved stone wheels, pedestals and slabs lie scattered on the ground, with a large rough block in the foreground and broken stone fragments nearby.2014-11-21A worker in a pink full-sleeve shirt, plaid lungi and a red-and-white checked head cloth squats on dusty red earth, shaping a grey granite slab with a chisel and hammer. A yellow measuring tape lies across the stone and chips are scattered around it. Behind him is a large heap of crushed grey stone, more cut slabs lean on the ground, and a white plastic chair stands among construction debris, at an outdoor stone-working site.2006-12-19September 18 20062006-09-18July 01 20132013-07-01Outdoor construction work under a corrugated metal roof supported by wooden posts, with stacks of cut timber and slabs behind it and tall palms and trees around. Several workers are active: one in a dark jacket and dark skirt bends over the ground, another in a red headcloth stands near the left, and a person in blue works at the far right. Flat stone slabs lie scattered on grass with yellow flowers in the foreground. The scene shows a building or site works in progress, with no ritual activity, deity or visible a person candidate.2014-09-22A photograph of an outdoor stone-carving yard under a corrugated metal roof on supporting poles, with bare dirt ground and scrubby trees behind. Many carved granite and marble pieces lie scattered: round pedestals, lingam-shaped stones, cylindrical bases and large carved slabs. A few men stand near the left side and in the middle; one wears an orange robe and one a bare-chested red-and-gold wrap. Others wear white shirts and white dhotis.
