Kailaasa Paramparagatha Sūrya Vaṃśa Sarvajnapeetha Adi Noothana Chola SamrajyamA priest in orange ritual clothing bends forward at a stone shivalinga-style yoni-pitha in a dim stone-walled sanctum, pouring liquid from a metal vessel over the central object. The priest has a shaved head and wears an orange dhoti and orange upper cloth. A curved brass or golden ornamental frame surrounds the object, and yellow-tinged liquid and offerings are visible on the base. The setting appears to be a temple abhishekam.Photo 11725480 +1 copiesMay 16 20122012-05-16 +1 copiesA shaved-headed man in saffron-orange robes and a red headpiece pours yellow liquid from a large brass vessel over a dark stone Shivalinga, which is topped with a pink flower. Ash marks are visible on his forehead and he wears gold bracelets on his wrist. The liquid streams down the black stone base in an abhishekam offering. A red exit sign and brass bells are visible in the background of an indoor temple room. The page identifies the event as a Pradosha abhishekam at Kailaasa in Los Angeles, but the figure's appearance alone does not establish his identity.2008-05-03Ritual abhishekam at a temple shrine. A bald man in saffron robes with red-and-white borders stands at left with hands joined in namaste, a white tilak on his forehead and beaded necklaces at his neck. Beside him, a man in white ritual clothing with a red-bordered cloth pours water from a brass kalasha over a dark stone deity murti. Behind them, a deity image is draped with a multicoloured garland and a purple cloth, with a gold crown and ornaments visible. The plain grey tiled wall forms the backdrop.2008-05-03A temple ritual in a covered hall with pillars. In the foreground, a shaven-headed monk in saffron/orange robes sits cross-legged facing a brass or wooden ritual setup. Beside him, a man in orange cloth sits behind a low wooden stand holding a vessel, with fruit and flower offerings and leaves laid out on the floor. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti stands in the background near a pillar, and another person in white stands at the left edge. Garlands of flowers and banana leaves frame the scene.May 16 20122012-05-16May 18 20122012-05-18 +1 copiesA photograph of a temple abhishekam at a shrine with a large black stone Nandi-style bull statue on a tiled platform. A man in saffron-orange robes with a red border and a shawl draped over his head, wearing a gold necklace and bracelets and a white-and-red tilak on his forehead, leans forward holding a brass pot to pour liquid over the black stone sculpture. Beside him a child in a red outfit holds a small brass vessel near the statue. Behind them a woman in a maroon sari stands near colourful garlands, flowers and a decorated deity murti; a red EXIT sign is visible on the wall. The man's appearance is consistent with the page's reference to a person but cues are only partly distinctive, so identity is uncertain.2008-05-03A four-panel collage of temple abhishekam ritual.
