December 13 20152015-12-13A photograph taken from behind of a seated figure on a wooden chair in front of a large golden relief of Nataraja, the dancing Shiva with a flaming arch. The figure has bare upper shoulders, wears an orange-red dhoti with a yellow-gold border, and has a thick orange-beaded necklace and gold armbands. A tall silver trident stands on a base to the left, and gilded peacock-and-lotus wall decorations flank the backdrop. The figure wears a rust-red garment with gold borders draped over one shoulder, a dark bun, a rudraksha-style mala with gold beads around the neck, and a gold bangle. Beside them stands a silver trident (trishul) and a carved wooden bench with cushion, and a water bottle sits on a wooden side table. A peacock-feather motif decorates the stage edge.2015-12-13December 13 20152015-12-13December 13 20152015-12-13 +1 copiesMay 14 20162016-05-14A photograph of a single figure seen from behind, standing in a dim, smoky hall against a dark patterned backdrop. The figure wears a red-orange dhoti-style cloth with a gold-bordered sash draped over one shoulder, a gold beaded necklace, gold armlets and bangles, and has dark hair gathered on top of the head. Both hands rest on the hips. A silver trident stands upright on a stone base to the left, beside a carved wooden chair. The lighting is warm and low, creating a meditative, ceremonial atmosphere.2015-12-13A female dancer in a red and gold silk sari with gold-bordered pleats sits cross-legged on a stage in a classical Bharatanatyam-style pose, hands joined in anjali mudra at her chest. She wears a gold headpiece with a crescent ornament, pearl necklaces, gold bangles and a gold waist belt. Behind her, a small figure of a deity with a garland of white flowers stands on a green pedestal, and a backdrop of white patterned cloth with a painted orange and yellow flame design surrounds the stage.2009-06-15December 15 20152015-12-15 +1 copiesA photograph from behind of one person standing barefoot on a striped rug in a richly ornamented shrine lit by warm red-gold light. The figure has very long dark hair gathered high, a small crescent-shaped ornament at the crown, and wears a rust-orange draped garment with gold border and a silver-toned trident held in one raised hand; the other hand rests on the hip, with gold armbands. Ahead are an ornate gold arch and a throne-like structure with a seated figure in red-and-gold ceremonial attire and jewelled decoration, flanked by a gilded lion and a golden bull at the foreground edge. Hanging bells, brass lamp stands and draped red curtains complete the shrine setting. The figure's appearance is consistent with a presentation sometimes associated with the swami, though the features are not visible.2017-04-30
