December 26 20082008-12-26A ceremonial scene in an indoor courtyard with a white-walled backdrop and colourful paper lanterns overhead. In the centre, a man in an orange saffron robe with a long white flower garland and a red flower stands before an offering table, holding a small silver tray of items while a man in white dhoti and shirt beside him extends his hands. Behind them a long table holds brass oil lamps, brass bells, plates of fruit and flower offerings. Devotees in white and orange clothes stand in rows along the back, and several women in white sit on the floor near the table. The outfit's orange robe, layered garlands and rudraksha-style beads are visible, with the saffron robe matching the ritual setting of a puja.2008-12-26December 26 20082008-12-26A photograph of a ceremonial moment at a festival crowd. A central figure with long swept-back dark hair, a white tripundra forehead marking, a saffron/orange robe and heavy gold necklaces with a large pendant wears a saffron garment and extends his arm toward a tray of rudraksha beads and bananas held by a man in orange with gold beads. Swamiji (probable) is the central figure with long hair, saffron robe and ornate gold necklaces. Behind them a man in white with a rudraksha mala watches, and devotees in white and yellow saris and kurtas press close, some with hands folded. A man in the foreground holds a conch-shaped vessel and a bowl of fruit and marigold garlands.2008-12-23December 23 20082008-12-23A photograph of an outdoor Pongal-style offering at an ashram courtyard. A long-haired man in orange robes and a heavy gold-bead necklace holds a brass plate of flowers and offers a flower toward a clay pot decorated with white lines and banana leaves, with a small flame burning. Behind him a bald priest in orange robes and a rudraksha mala holds a plate, and a bearded man in white stands nearby. Several women in saffron and white saris stand with palms pressed together in namaste. White walls, trees and a wire fence form the background. Swamiji (probable): the long-haired man in orange robes with a gold-bead necklace leads the offering.2010-01-14Outdoor photograph under a corrugated tin canopy supported by white poles, with hanging woven banners in red, orange and black at top left. In the centre, a person with long dark hair and a red-and-white flower garland wears a saffron-orange robe, a rudraksha mala and a red forehead mark, smiling and standing with hands folded at the waist. Behind and around him, several people in white and cream ritual clothing and orange shawls stand, including a woman in a lavender sari and a woman in a white sari with an orange shawl. Flower petals in yellow and pink, brass plates and a brass bowl lie on a low brick platform at the front, and a red mat covers the floor. Swamiji (probable): the centred figure wears long swept-back hair, a saffron robe, a rudraksha mala and a flower garland, consistent with a sannyasi in orange robes at a ceremony.2008-11-11December 26 20082008-12-26August 06 20092009-08-06July 13 20092009-07-13A seated figure in an orange saffron robe with long dark swept-back hair and a long rudraksha mala sits cross-legged beside a white brick fire pit, smiling, with a red tilak on the forehead. Around the pit are brass pots, bowls of red and orange offerings, fruit, flowers and a small silver peetha-like tray. Behind, people in white dhotis and white clothes stand and kneel on woven mats, several seated women reading or praying with folded hands, and one woman wearing a yellow-orange sash. Purple and orange flowers are scattered on the bricks. The scene suggests a homa or yagna setting, with the seated figure matching the Swamiji (probable) cues of saffron clothing, long hair and rudraksha mala.2007-12-25A photograph of a procession inside a temple courtyard. In the centre, a man with long swept-back dark hair and a white forehead mark wears a saffron-orange shawl and a thick garland of white and magenta flowers with gold beads, plus gold bangles on his upper arm. He smiles and walks forward. Beside him on the left, a shaved-headed priest in saffron robes and a rudraksha mala holds a tall silver staff, while a priest in white dhoti and shawl walks behind. Other devotees in white and saffron stand in the background, and an attendant on the right holds a brass tray. Orange-painted walls and pillars frame the scene.2011-12-11
