A man in a saffron-orange dhoti and a leopard-print shawl over the shoulders, wearing a dark rudraksha mala, holds the pole and looks upward; he is a candidate for a person by appearance cues, though this is uncertain. Around him, men in white ritual clothes and women in white and red-orange shawls look up. A woman at right in a white sari with an orange shawl holds a brass-handled ceremonial fan with white fringe. A red-and-gold umbrella-like canopy is visible at the top edge. Several devotees stand in the background.2010-11-19A night-time outdoor gathering on a red-walled stepped platform beside a dark water channel, with a palm tree at left. Many people in white ritual clothing stand in tiers, some with hands folded in prayer, lining a metal railing at the top. In the foreground at right, a bald man in an orange-saffron robe and rudraksha-style beads holds a sheet of paper, while a woman in a patterned sari stands with palms pressed together. No clear a person candidate is distinguishable by the cues required, so the figure is described only by role as a sannyasi in saffron.2010-11-30Night-time photograph of a procession walking along a dirt path beside a stone retaining wall. In the foreground, a man with long dark hair wears a plain orange saffron robe draped over his body, bare-chested and barefoot, with his hands at his sides. Beside him, a bearded man in a grey-beige top with white dhoti and an orange shawl walks ahead. Behind them, a young man in white kurta and white dhoti with an orange shawl carries a small metal vessel. Other white-clad and orange-shawled participants follow up a white-walled stairway in the background, and a metal water pot stands at left. The scene suggests a ritual walk, with the figures in white and orange clothing.2006-12-11Night scene at a riverside ghat. A young man in white kurta with an orange-red shawl and rudraksha mala raises a small pink-and-white oil lamp overhead, smiling. A man in a saffron robe at right looks up.2008-07-09Night photograph of a ritual at a sunken stone pit. A central figure in an orange-saffron robe holds a lit brass lamp with a tall flame, with a second person in white beside them. Around the pit stand young men in white clothes with orange shawls, hands pressed in namaskar, and a bearded man in white. Above, on the raised stone edge, a crowd of devotees in white, orange and multicoloured saris leans forward with folded hands. Bright white floodlights frame the scene, and brass bowls and a tray with offerings sit at the edges.2006-12-11August 20 20062006-08-20A night procession walks along a dark stone pavement.
