Many devotees sit cross-legged on the red cloth eating from steel thalis holding rice, yellow dal, vegetables, pickles and sweets, with small steel tumblers beside them. Most wear saffron and orange robes and some have orange turbans; a man in white dhoti and shawl sits at left with a red tilak, a woman in a pink sari stands among them with a serving spoon, and a man in a red shirt with a pink shawl sits beside the thalis. A bald man in white with a saffron scarf stands in the background. Several people are seated closer to the back and a bearded man in orange sits to the right.2016-05-06August 25 20142014-08-25 +2 copiesSeptember 14 20152015-09-14A photograph of a pada puja in a plain room with white walls and green floor covering. A figure seated on a red armchair-style throne wears orange robes with hands pressed together in namaskar. Around him, devotees sit on the floor in white clothes: an older man in white with a lanyard, a man in white holding a brass plate, and several women in white saris with a yellow-clad woman among them. Brass plates with fruit, sweets and small bowls are arranged on the floor, with oil lamps burning in front. Red-topped tables with apples, oranges and bananas flank the throne.2010-02-14A photograph of a padapuja ritual in an open courtyard. A man in an orange saffron robe sits on an ornate gold-carved throne with red cushioning, hands pressed in namaste and his bare feet resting on a gold stool. Before him, several devotees in white dhotis and white shoulder cloths sit on the floor; a bald man with a white tilak wears gold necklaces and holds a small cup, while younger men in gold beaded necklaces and a woman in a yellow-bordered sari attend to silver thalis holding red apples, fruit and small brass vessels. Behind them a man in white dhoti and shawl stands with folded arms beside a red-and-white striped wall with a red curtain, and a second row of devotees in saffron and white sits at right near plates of food.2010-09-08 +1 copiesA photograph of a seated community meal in a temple hall. Many devotees in saffron and orange robes sit cross-legged on long multicoloured striped mats, each with a steel thali plate and small steel tumbler. A bald man in a maroon-and-orange dhoti and shawl, with a beaded necklace, bends forward to serve food from a vessel toward the row. Several seated men wear orange headwear and saffron clothing, and a few wear white. Behind them stand ornate golden lamps and a decorated deity shrine with garlands. A rounded lamp hangs near a wall, and a fan and a monitor appear at the right edge. The dark drapery and ornamented altar suggest a sacred hall, consistent with an annadan-style meal.2015-09-12 +1 copiesDecember 22 20162016-12-22
