A photograph of a temple ritual at a Meenakshi Tirukalyanam celebration. Two large deity murtis, Meenakshi and Sundareswarar, are richly adorned with white and yellow garlands and red flower strands, with gold and green silk draped over the altar platform. Several young boys and a few adults in saffron and orange robes stand or bow in front of the murtis with folded hands and offering gestures. One boy in the foreground wears a white forehead mark and an orange-gold shawl and looks toward the camera. A man in a white dhoti sits at the left edge, and a gold ornate throne is visible in the background. The setting is an indoor hall with a dark curtain and white walls.2015-04-30Photo 11694041August 14 20172017-08-14April 15 20132013-04-15 +2 copiesA photograph of young male sannyasi-style disciples seated cross-legged on low silver-topped platforms during a ritual. They wear orange-saffron robes and white vertical marks on their foreheads; several wear dark rudraksha malas. Brass bells, oil lamps, small brass cups, plates of fruit and sweets, and white flowers sit before them on the platforms. One boy in the foreground has his hands folded, eyes closed, while others look forward or sit with bowed heads. Behind them, orange-clad figures and a few spectators are partly visible against a light background. No central figure is clearly identifiable as a person, so the scene shows disciples in a puja or satsang setting.2013-05-09May 08 20172017-05-08October 16 20132013-10-16October 21 20152015-10-21 +1 copiesJune 05 20132013-06-05December 12 20132013-12-12October 15 20132013-10-15October 16 20132013-10-16
