A temple sanctum scene during worship at a Shiva lingam decorated with marigold and rose garlands. A man with long dreadlocks, a rust-red turban, a rose garland over his shoulder and gold bangles stands at center, placing his hand on the golden lingam. Two younger men in orange-saffron cloth stand behind him, one with long hair. Behind the lingam is a gilded deity murti in a red-and-gold garment with a crown, and floral garlands in yellow, red and white fill the frame. Brass and silver kalasha-style vessels sit in the foreground. The pillared stone ceiling and warm lamplight complete the setting.2016-12-14December 19 20162016-12-19A photograph inside a temple sanctum showing a man in a rust-orange turban and dark orange dhoti, with a gold bracelet on his upper arm, bending forward to adorn a large deity murti with multicoloured flower garlands of marigold, red, green and white blossoms. Behind him a younger attendant with a bare chest and a rudraksha-style necklace stands in the doorway. The deity murti is draped in gold and red silk and is decorated with gold ornaments, and a brass oil lamp burns in the right foreground. The flower decoration suggests puja or abhishekam preparation.2016-12-14October 21 20152015-10-21 +1 copiesJune 12 20142014-06-12December 19 20162016-12-19December 14 20162016-12-14December 02 20172017-12-02March 07 20162016-03-07A photograph of a temple ritual at night beside a large black stone shivalinga on a square black basin, being bathed in water poured from a metal vessel. A third priest with a shaved head stands at left. Behind them, a gilded deity murti with a crown and jewelled ornaments sits in a pink sari-like garment, draped in garlands of orange, yellow, purple and white flowers, with a gilded attendant figure at right wearing a tiger-striped cloth and a rudraksha mala. Oil lamps and brass vessels surround the scene. Three physical people are visible.2015-02-17 +1 copiesA photograph of a temple-style puja on a stage. At the centre, a deity murti decorated with garlands of white, red, yellow and purple flowers sits beneath a gold-and-red ornate canopy umbrella. Around it, several men in saffron-orange and rust-red robes with bare shoulders, white forehead markings, and beaded necklaces perform the ritual; one stands with long plaited hair holding a small lamp or offering vessel, another in a red turban holds a silver vessel, and another in orange holds a silver dish near the altar. A silver pot and brass vessels sit in front, with a golden railing below and a red curtain and starry backdrop behind.2018-04-25 +1 copiesDecember 02 20172017-12-02
