A ritual ceremony before a deity murti draped in ornate jewelled cloth and yellow-orange garlands. Two bare-chested priests sit cross-legged on a mat in front of a brick-and-stone fire pit (homa/yagna) decorated with pink-and-white powder designs. The priest at left in a golden-yellow shawl holds a microphone and an oil lamp burns nearby. The priest at centre wears white dhoti, a green-bordered shawl and a long rudraksha-style mala, with white sacred ash on his forehead, and holds a brass plate of offerings with flowers and grain stalks. A third man in a saffron shawl and a fourth in white sit behind them. Bananas, fruit, brass vessels and yellow marigold garlands surround the altar.2016-03-27A Hindu fire ritual, a homa or yagna, is performed in front of an ornately decorated deity murti draped with jewelled garments and yellow-orange flower garlands. At the centre, a bare-chested priest in a yellow cloth and gold-beaded necklaces sits behind a brick-lined fire pit (homa kunda) with a small flame and offerings. Beside him, another man in yellow and a rudraksha-style mala holds a microphone and seems to chant. A seated priest in a white dhoti with a green-and-red border faces the altar, holding an offering tray with fruits and flowers. Brass lamps, a kalasha pot, bananas, a plate of fruit, and a striped mat surround the altar, with a camera on a tripod at the right edge. Four to five physical people are visible in the scene.2016-03-27March 27 20162016-03-27Close-up photograph of a seated figure in white ritual cloth with a gold-bead necklace and gold-banded wrist bands, with white sacred ash marks on the arm. The hands are joined in a mudra in front of an open book on a stand, beside a microphone on a chrome stand. Background shows orange and green draped fabric. Only the torso, arm and hands are visible; the face is not shown. Appearance cues are limited to ritual white dress and gold beads, which are insufficient to confirm an identity, so the figure is described by role as a seated speaker or teacher.2011-11-10A bare-chested man stands before a gilded arch and red drapes, holding up a gold ceremonial necklace with both hands. He wears a green and gold jeweled headpiece with white garlands, a rudraksha mala and a white flower garland over a floral-patterned saffron-and-cream shawl. Behind him, two deity murtis are dressed with rows of yellow, red and white flower garlands and gold ornaments. The scene suggests a ritual or ceremonial offering in a temple-like setting.2016-03-27 +1 copiesApril 23 20122012-04-23A shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and white upper cloth sits cross-legged on a green mat, chanting from an open book held on his lap beside a microphone on a stand. He wears a gold necklace and gold armbands, with white sacred ash markings on his forehead and arms. Behind him, several men in white and saffron-orange robes sit on a raised white-draped platform under stage lights. Gilded ritual vessels and a silver kalasha-style pot sit near him, with gold-coloured offerings stacked at the right edge of the frame. Appearance does not clearly match the page's claim of a person, so the identity is uncertain and he is described by role as a priest chanting during a ritual.2011-12-20January 02 20162016-01-02November 10 20112011-11-10November 10 20112011-11-10August 02 20172017-08-02December 20 20112011-12-20
