December 28 20112011-12-28A fire ritual at close range: a priest in white dhoti and cloth sits on the ground and pours ghee from a long twisted-handle ladle into a brass bowl placed beside a bright flame. Yellow-ochre brick fire pit with white marks surrounds the blaze, with copper vessels, a small silver cup, brass bowls of red and dark offerings, and an open book with pages in the background. The priest's hands are visible; no face is shown. This appears to be a homa with oblation.2011-12-28September 09 20162016-09-09August 09 20182018-08-09Close view of a fire ritual at a brick-lined homa pit with a blazing wood fire. The brick altar is marked with white and red kumkum-style dots, with red and yellow flower petals and a bowl of flowers nearby.
