A large dark stone statue of Dakshinamurthi, the seated form of Shiva as teacher, shown outdoors beneath leafy tree branches. The four-armed deity sits in lotus-style cross-legged posture on a rock base carved with small figures, including a bull and a prostrate figure beneath the feet. One hand holds a serpent aloft, another rests in a teaching gesture, and the upper arms hold a drum-like object and a flame-like item. The statue wears a headband, a ringed neck ornament, bracelets and a sash. Marigold flowers are visible at the lower left.
