A large evening gathering of devotees seated on a red mat under a white canopy strung with lights, garlands and a colourful hanging cloth. A dense night-time crowd of women and some men packs an outdoor festival ground, lit by purple string lights in the background. Many raise their hands and clap, some with arms overhead, in a devotional or celebratory atmosphere. A woman in the centre wears a cream and gold-bordered sari with a gold necklace and bangles. A woman at lower right wears an orange-brown shawl with a red bindi and gold earrings. A woman at left wears a red top and a white sacred marking on her forehead. No a person candidate is clearly visible, and the scene reads as a crowd at a Mahashivaratri-period event.
