A seated priest with long dark matted hair, wearing an orange-red cloth wrap, multiple rudraksha beaded malas on neck and arms, and white ash markings on his shoulders, tends a rectangular brick fire pit with a brass ladle and bowl during a homa. Behind the fire, a cardboard or printed cutout of a smiling woman in a turban and floral garland sits on a throne draped with colourful shimmering fabric. To the left, a deity murti is adorned with flowers and a yellow cloth on a blue cloth-covered stand, with silver lamps and a brass kalasha nearby. Brass dishes of kumkum and offerings surround the fire.2021-01-11June 04 20152015-06-04A priest performs arati before a deity murti of Sri Venkateshwara Swami seated against a dark curtain. Behind him hang marigold and mixed flower garlands against a purple backdrop, and an ornate gold arched frame encloses a deity murti decorated with pearl garlands and an orange and yellow cloth. Yellow and pink marigold and rose garlands and green leaves surround the platform, which is set before ornate gold shrines with deity murtis in red alcoves and a bright golden architectural backdrop. The scene appears to be a ritual offering at a Dakshinamurthy Homa during the Nithyanandotsavam festival, and the caption on the image reads 'Dakshinamurthy Homa Nithyanandotsavam, 2021 - Day 3'. The man's identity is not established by visible cues beyond his ritual role.2021-12-21
