A photograph of a ritual initiation setting in a richly decorated hall. In the foreground, a woman seen from behind wears a white sari with a gold border and a long braid, seated facing a young girl. The girl sits on a red cushion wearing an orange sari, layered rudraksha malas, gold necklaces and earrings, with a white vibhuti line on her forehead and her hair tied back with ornaments. Behind her is an ornate gold throne with carved details, and golden draperies and red flowers fill the background. Two people are visible.2017-08-22March 11 20172017-03-11August 22 20172017-08-22Photo of a young woman seated on an ornate gilded throne with red velvet cushions, wearing an orange saree, a white horizontal tilak on her forehead, long rudraksha mala necklaces and gold ornaments, eyes lowered. Facing her, an older woman in a white saree with gold border stands close, her hand resting near the seated woman's lap. Behind them are gold decorative panels and yellow and red floral garlands.2017-08-08August 19 20172017-08-19 +1 copiesAugust 19 20172017-08-19 +1 copiesOctober 03 20082008-10-03August 22 20172017-08-22A long-haired man in orange saffron robes and a white flower garland sits on an ornate gold throne with red cushions and tiger-striped padding, surrounded by floral decorations. He smiles as an older woman in a white sari with a gold border bows and holds his hands. A younger man in orange stands behind the throne, and a gold lion-head armrest is visible. Swamiji (probable): the seated man's long hair, saffron clothing and ceremonial gold necklace match the page's reference to Swamiji at this event, though the appearance is only partly confirmed.2008-07-17December 27 20082008-12-27 +1 copiesJuly 17 20082008-07-17A seated figure in saffron-orange robes and a golden crown sits on an ornate golden throne (peetha) decorated with garlands of white, yellow and red flowers, with a rudraksha-style mala and white garland draped over the chest. Women in white and cream sarees with gold borders sit on a red carpet in front of the throne, several with hands folded in anjali. Behind them stands a bald man in a white dhoti and shawl beside a tall silver lamp, with a tiered red-and-gold canopy above, brass lamps and garlanded pillars on a dark wall. The orange-robed figure's appearance is consistent with the page's description of a saffron-clad, crowned presenter, so the candidate is a person seated in a ceremonial setting, while the devotees and attendant are identified by role only.2010-12-29
