July 08 20092009-07-08Outdoor photograph of a ritual at a water tank beside a large black stone vessel draped with white and yellow flower garlands. A man in an orange-red dhoti bends forward at the water's edge, while a standing figure in a saffron-orange robe with a shaved head stands on the platform behind him. The water is shallow and filled with devotees in white and coloured clothes, some standing waist-deep, some holding up cameras or hands in prayer. On the right are decorated structures with white and yellow garlands and purple flowers, and a red-and-white striped staircase rises in the background.2009-07-08June 03 20132013-06-03A large black polished lingam stands on a circular base, with water spraying upward from its top as it is bathed. Flower petals are scattered over its crown. On a metal staircase and platform beside it, three men in saffron-orange robes stand; one pours liquid from a vessel, another holds a tray or pot, and a man in white dhoti with an orange shawl gestures and holds a flower offering. Garlands of white flowers and red blossoms hang on the railing. Tiered red-and-grey seating rows with spectators in light clothing stretch behind, with trees and palms in the background. The scene suggests a lingam abhishekam ritual outdoors.2010-07-25July 08 20092009-07-08June 10 20132013-06-10 +1 copiesOutdoor ritual at a large black stone lingam decorated with a garland of red roses, white flowers, yellow flowers and green leaves.
