July 07 20092009-07-07A group of about a dozen men in saffron and orange robes stands on a glossy tiled floor inside a bare, unpainted concrete hall with large windows. On the right, a man with long curly hair and a rudraksha mala raises his arm and points, while others around him listen attentively. A bearded man in a green shawl and white-clad attendants stand nearby. Several robed men wear beaded necklaces. The scene looks like an ashram visit or walkthrough.2009-12-30Indoor hall with white walls, ceiling fans, orange curtains and tiled floor. About eight men walk across the floor in orange and saffron robes; several wear rudraksha malas and gold necklaces, and some have long hair or beards. Behind them, white-clad and green-shawled attendees sit on plastic chairs near a table with a water dispenser. A small speaker is mounted on the wall. The setting looks like a sannyasi procession or assembly at an ashram hall.2009-12-30A covered corridor with a tiled floor and orange-painted metal roof frame, with a wall painting and a serving counter visible behind. Several people walk and gesture in conversation. In the foreground, a woman in an orange-red robe with a long rudraksha mala and curly hair raises her hands, beside a woman in a yellow sari. A man in an orange-and-saffron robe with a yellow-orange head wrap and beaded necklace walks toward the camera. In the centre, an elderly man in a red-orange robe and matching cloth on his head walks with a wooden cane, barefoot, along a yellow painted line on the concrete floor. Behind him, several men in white dhotis with orange shawls follow. At right, a bare-chested man in orange cloth with an orange head wrap walks toward the same direction across a dark blue mat. A wooden chair, a plastic chair and a green-draped table sit against the back wall beneath an orange and white hanging banner.2006-12-31December 30 20092009-12-30A photograph of an indoor hall with a concrete floor and corrugated roof, where several men stand in a semicircle near a low mat laid with brass vessels, flowers and a red-and-orange cloth. Two bare-chested men in white dhotis with gold-tinted garlands stand at the left, near a doorway. At centre, a man in a plain white robe, a dark blue cap, a red-and-gold shawl and a marigold garland stands with hands clasped. To his left, a shaven-headed man in an orange robe and white dhoti stands with hands folded. On the right, a shaven-headed man in an orange robe and dhoti stands facing the group. Tall painted pillars decorated with floral and geometric designs in yellow, red, blue and orange stand behind them, and a brass plate hangs on the wall.2010-09-27A photograph inside a bare, unfinished hall with pink-washed brick walls and white fabric drapes at the windows. On the right, a man in a bright orange robe and matching orange turban and wrap stands gesturing as he speaks. Hanging from the ceiling are tall colourful cloth banners with orange tails. Several men in orange saffron robes and bare-shouldered wraps stand together near the centre, while men in white dhotis and white shawls with red or yellow borders stand nearby. Along the floor, rows of leaf plates and small lamps are set out in a ritual arrangement. A projector screen hangs on the left and red curtains frame the windows. Several men in white dhotis stand in the middle distance. The scene appears to be a preparation for a puja.2011-07-20Photograph inside a large white tent-like hall with a pale concrete floor marked by yellow lines. Several people walk across the floor: in the foreground a figure in long orange robes and loose dark hair turns away, and a monk in orange robes with a bald head and an orange shawl walks beside a man in white. Behind them, a younger person in orange and another in white stand near the wall. Along the back wall, several large framed printed portraits show a long-haired man in white clothing performing hand gestures and holding a flute or instrument. On the left, a metal sculpture of a deity murti stands on a low platform beside a tall decorative banner in multicoloured patterns.
