The leftmost monk has a yellow turmeric mark on his forehead; several wear rudraksha malas and bracelets, and one holds a microphone. The monks appear to be sannyasis or devotees; none is identified as a person.2015-06-15 +3 copiesAnnadhan during Allahabad Kumbhamela 20132013-01-01 +2 copiesA photograph of many saffron-robed monks and devotees seated in long rows on the floor of a marble hall, hands pressed together in namaskar, during a meal. Each seated person wears orange cloth wraps and rudraksha malas; several have shaved heads and vibhuti or tilak marks. In front of them lie banana leaves heaped with food, flanked by rows of paper cups and glasses. The foreground figure is a shaved-headed monk in orange, with a mala and white forehead mark, praying. No one in the scene is clearly identifiable as a person; the seated figures are priests and devotees at a communal ritual meal.2014-09-13Several monastic men in saffron-orange robes sit cross-legged in prayer with palms pressed together, many with rudraksha malas and white-marked foreheads. A seated man at the right holds a microphone and an open notebook, apparently reading or leading. Before them are rows of small white cups and banana-leaf plates of food, along with brass pieces. A laptop sits on the floor. The men at the front are visibly sannyasis, and the seated reader is a leader, but no one's identity is established from appearance. Other participants sit behind in the blurred background.2016-08-02
