Photo 11724131A tall gold-painted pole or flagstaff wrapped at its base with a white cloth and a red-and-gold patterned border, bound with straw and rope, and topped with a bundle of dry grass and fresh green mango leaves. The bright sky and palm trees suggest an outdoor setting. At the lower right edge, a young person in a dark shirt looks toward the pole. The bundle and wrap appear to be prepared for a flag-hoisting (dwajarohanam) ceremony.2018-12-22December 23 20092009-12-23Close-up photograph of a tall copper pole with raised bands of carved rope-like relief, viewed from below against a pale blue sky. Tied near the top are two bundles of orange cloth joined by golden cord, with a looped orange cord, mango leaves, dried wheat or grass stalks and a small cinnamon-coloured stick bound among them. Two saffron-clad figures tie or adjust the wrapping: a bare-chested person with a leopard-print headband, rudraksha beads and white ash on the arm, and a woman in an orange shawl with gold bangles and braided hair. Other devotees in orange stand behind. Strong daylight, green trees and sandy ground in the background.2018-12-22December 22 20182018-12-22 +1 copiesA man in an orange-saffron garment with a white-and-marigold garland raises a white cloth with orange edging near a tall copper kalasha-style pillar wrapped in white cloth and orange cord, decorated with yellow marigolds and red flowers. He is presenting the cloth as part of a ritual at the pillar.2009-12-23December 22 20182018-12-22December 23 20092009-12-23A photograph looking upward at a tall copper flagstaff rising beside a stone shrine base decorated with white jasmine garlands tied with red flowers and green leaves. A rust-red cloth flag is being hoisted on the pole by a person in a rust-red garment with a rudraksha-style mala and white flower garlands, pulling a rope.
