August 01 20082008-08-01A photograph of a roadside scene at dusk with a line of young women in white traditional dress walking across a dirt road. Several wear white saris or dhotis with coloured borders in yellow, orange and red, and some have shawls in orange and yellow draped over their shoulders. Their hair is long and dark, worn in braids. In the foreground a man in a white shirt and blue shorts stands beside a bicycle, and on the right edge a person in light blue clothing is partly visible. Behind them an orange-robed figure walks near a small roadside shrine with a tiered temple tower. Trees, palms and a signboard line the road.2009-08-08August 01 20082008-08-01A tree-lined rural road in Tamil Nadu with a single lane of traffic in each direction marked by white dashes. A man in a white shirt and orange shawl walks in the foreground, while a cyclist rides in the middle distance. Roadside stalls with blue tarpaulin, plastic chairs and bottled drinks stand on the left, and a man in a white shirt and a shirtless boy stand beside a black water tank and clay pots on the right. Orange-clad figures continue along the road toward the distance.2008-08-01A tree-lined asphalt road runs toward the horizon under an overcast sky. Shaded by tall green trees with dirt verges, traffic moves in both directions: a blue-bodied truck, motorcycles and bicycles with riders in light clothing. On the left, several people in white dhotis and white garments walk along the verge, one woman in a white sari with an orange border. In the lower right, two heads are visible in the foreground, one wearing an orange-bordered white garment and another in white. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person.2008-08-01June 19 20142014-06-19 +1 copiesA roadside procession moves along a wide paved highway lined with saffron flags on poles and palm trees. Most walkers wear white clothing, with orange or saffron shawls and sashes on several, and some carry small bags. A woman in a yellow sari beats a drum, and a man in a red shirt walks nearby. A yellow dump truck follows the column. Two walkers at the right hold yellow placards. Several people appear in the foreground, with the line of marchers stretching into the distance.2009-02-16
