A photograph of an abhishekam being performed on small metal murtis. A person's hands, with bare brown skin, tilt a clay pot and pour milk over the central standing deity figure, which has four arms, a conical crown and white-painted body. Milk runs down its body and base. Flanking murtis include a bronze figure of a bare-chested male devotee on the left and a figure in an orange-saffron garment with a conical crown on the right. Behind them, a purple brocade cloth covers an altar, with garlands of yellow, orange, green and red flowers hanging on larger deity statues and a gold-framed arch.2025-08-01A brass or bronze standing deity murti of Venkateshwara (Vishnu form) with a tall conical crown and a vertical tilak, holding a conch and discus in raised hands, is being bathed with milk or water poured from a large brass pot held by a woman's bare arm wearing bangles. The statue stands on a square pedestal and a second bronze figure stands beside it on the left. Milk runs down over both pedestals onto a brass tray below. In the background a purple brocade cloth with gold motifs covers a table, with flower garlands in red, orange, yellow and green hanging nearby, a gold ornamental arch, and a brass urn on a stepped base. A framed portrait on the right shows a man in a dark costume against a dark backdrop, labelled as a portrait rather than a person present in the scene. The scene reflects abhishekam, a ritual bathing of the deity.2025-08-01Feb 6 2022 sripuram2022-02-06A photograph of three small statues on a stone platform being bathed in a ritual abhishekam.
