Several wear long orange-beaded garlands and rudraksha malas, and each has white sacred ash markings on the forehead. The foreground man, in red-orange cloth with an orange shawl, holds a small lit oil lamp in his hands, and the man beside him holds a brass bell and a lamp. Brass vessels, a lit oil lamp and flower-filled plates sit on the floor before them, with red curtains and a white wall behind. Several have white horizontal tilak marks across their foreheads and white marks on their arms. They chant from open books and hold small items in their hands near a silver bowl of liquid, silver ladles and small metal vessels set on a stone platform. Dim light and smoke suggest a homa or puja. Other devotees in orange and white stand in the background.2014-09-16Night ritual photograph of six shaven-headed male priests in saffron and rust-red dhotis with gold-bordered cloth, several wearing rudraksha and beaded malas and sandalwood tripundra marks.
