Behind him stands a dark deity murti beside a red and gold patterned cloth, and banana leaves hang overhead with string lights. Brass oil lamps with lit flames stand in the foreground. At left, a person in white holds a lamp, and pineapples sit in woven baskets at right, consistent with a puja or aarti.

A man with a shaved head and a small red bindi on his forehead holds a brass oil lamp with a tall flame, ringing a small brass bell in his right hand during a ritual. He wears an orange-saffron shawl draped over his bare upper body and a long rudraksha mala of beads around his neck, plus a beaded bracelet and a gold bangle. Behind him, seated devotees in white clothes with orange scarves watch, and a gold-brown curtain covers the wall. The ritual is an oil-lamp aarti. The face is not visibly distinctive enough to confirm identity from appearance, so the figure is described by role only.
