KAILASA SINGAPORE on 7/22/20212021-07-22A woman in a white and gold sari stands at a shrine table, reaching toward a brass plate and offerings. Behind her, a life-size cardboard-style cutout of a bearded man in an orange-and-red turban and saffron-red striped shawl, garlanded with yellow marigolds, stands beside the altar. The cutout is a depiction rather than a physical person, and the a person field reflects that uncertainty. The shrine holds a small deity murti in an alcove, lit oil lamps, a brass puja plate, a garland-decorated kalasha on a table and a yellow-flowered offering in a bowl. A wall sign reads KAILASA Selayang. Ornate gold-and-red decorations and a peacock-feather display appear at left.A photograph of three people sitting cross-legged on the floor of a temple-style room, weaving palm leaves into decorative pieces. A man on the left wearing a black cap, dark t-shirt and blue trousers, with a blue face mask, holds a bundle of pale palm fronds. A woman in the centre in a mustard-yellow top and black trousers, wearing a blue mask, threads a leaf strip. A woman on the right in an olive-green top and grey trousers works on leaves. A green cloth covers the floor with leaf pieces, orange plastic bags and a silver plate. Behind them stands a small statue of a saint in orange robes with a flower garland, beside a gold-framed throne-like chair and draped side tables. A framed photo of a smiling man hangs on the wall, and a large framed picture of a banyan tree hangs above.2021-10-06A woman in a green and orange striped sari and a face mask lights an oil lamp on a silver stand, set on banana leaves spread across an orange cloth. Behind her, a seated figure in orange robes, wearing a maroon turban, a white flower garland and a rudraksha-style mala, sits on a red velvet cushion before a gold ornate backdrop flanked by gilded carved figures. In front of the seat is a tray of flowers and a small framed picture of a deity. The setting is a home shrine with a potted plant at right.2021-08-01KAILASA TORONTO, CANADA on 1/24/20222022-01-24KAILASA TORONTO, CANADA on 6/5/20222022-06-05 +1 copiesPhoto 99223582022-05-26 +1 copiesDevotees stand barefoot on a striped rug in a yellow-walled room decorated with marigold garlands and hanging ornaments, performing a puja with palms pressed together. The shrine holds a large golden seated statue of a figure wearing a maroon turban, layered multi-strand silver necklaces, a maroon and gold striped garment, and raising one hand in blessing; the statue is a statue, not a person. Beside it are a golden lion-faced deity figure, a framed black-and-white portrait on a small wooden stand with a red tilak mark, pink lotus flowers, a small potted plant, and rows of small lit oil lamps on a silver-covered table. A red cloth covers the shrine table, and a tray at lower left holds pearl garlands and brass ritual items. The setting is a plain room with cinderblock walls.2022-06-05 +1 copies
