A bare-chested priest in a cream and gold-bordered dhoti and a cream turban sits cross-legged on a green and multicoloured striped mat in front of a yellow-painted square fire pit filled with sand, applying something to a row of pots. Several kalasha pots dressed in green, red, blue and pink cloth with mango-leaf and flower garlands are arranged on steel tables, with fruit and offerings on a tray beside the priest. Brass oil lamps stand on either side, and a small deity murti sits near the pit. Seated spectators in saris and salwar kameez watch from chairs behind a red rope, and a colourful deity backdrop with a peacock design hangs on the wall. The setting suggests a homa or yagna ritual.
