Many men in front wear white dhoti-style cloth with red-striped borders and rudraksha malas around their necks. Several hold up lit oil lamps or diyas, with flames visible in multiple hands, and brass plates with offerings sit on mats in front. Behind them, women in white and coloured saris and salwar kameez sit in rows, also holding small lamps. The lighting is warm and dim, with glowing flames throughout the room, and the atmosphere suggests a collective puja or aarti.2010-12-28December 31 20182018-12-31October 25 20102010-10-25A photograph of a large indoor ritual gathering at night, with many men seated cross-legged on a tiled floor. Lit oil lamps and small silver plates holding rose petals, flowers and offerings are arranged in front of them. In the foreground a seated man with a shaved head and glasses holds one hand extended toward a plate, while others press their palms together in prayer. Behind them the hall is lit with warm lamplight, with a striped cloth draped along a raised platform and devotees standing in the background. In the foreground a man in an orange saffron robe sits with palms pressed together in namaste, smiling. Beside him a younger man in white dhoti and shawl with a red-bordered cloth and rudraksha mala sits with hands joined. Other men in white ritual dhotis and shawls, some with shaved heads and some with rudraksha malas, sit with palms together. Small oil lamps flicker on the floor in front of the group, and a table with a cloth and a stand stands at the back right. Several people stand at the rear of the hall in white shirts.2011-02-02A photograph taken from above of a long double row of seated devotees in a dimly lit hall, lit by oil lamps and candles set on the floor. Most men wear white dhoti and bare upper bodies, with rudraksha malas around their necks, and several hold their hands in anjali mudra. Brass plates with flowers, red offerings, fruit and small oil lamps sit in front of them along the rows. Several people in the front right wear saffron cloth and white garments. This appears to be a group puja or aarti with offerings. No single person in the foreground can be confirmed as a person by appearance, and no throne or distinctive ceremonial figure is clearly identifiable.2018-12-31 +1 copies
