In the foreground, a group of young sannyasi-style students in saffron robes, rudraksha malas and white forehead bands sit cross-legged on mats with hands raised in prayer or chanting, with brass lamps and small offering vessels before them. The crowd behind wears mostly white, with some in maroon. Metal stanchions line the aisle at left. A banner on the back wall shows a faded image. The scene resembles a group satsang or puja. He wears a sleeveless saffron-orange wrap and a long rudraksha mala across his chest, with long dark wavy hair swept back and a small red tilak on his forehead. His hands are gently open at waist level as he addresses the gathering.2010-02-14Photograph of a group of shaved-headed monastics in saffron-orange robes with maroon borders, many wearing rudraksha malas and gold pendant necklaces, standing outdoors with palms raised in a devotional gesture. Some have white vertical forehead markings and one has white horizontal tilak on the forehead. Behind them are red-and-white bunting and rows of dark lingam-shaped shrines or stone structures blurred in the background. The closest figures appear focused on chanting or prayer.
