August 06 20092009-08-06A crowd gathers around a brass-rimmed silver poornakumbham topped with a mango-leaf and yellow marigold arrangement, held by a bare-chested priest with rudraksha malas and a red-and-pink cloth on his shoulder. A man in a white shirt and spectacles stands behind it. At right, a man with long swept-back dark hair wears a large green and red marigold garland over an orange cloth and smiles, with a hand raised in blessing toward him. A standing sannyasi in saffron robes and a gold-beaded necklace stands behind him, and other men in white with sandalwood and vibhuti marks on their foreheads fill the frame. The setting appears to be a temple entrance. The long-haired garlanded man is a candidate for the page subject, but the appearance cues are not sufficient to confirm it, so identity is uncertain.2010-01-08Photo 11733110 +2 copiesPhotograph of a smiling man with long, swept-back dark hair and yellow-orange turmeric markings on his forehead, wearing a rust-red dhoti and a white shawl draped over his shoulders. He wears long garlands of white jasmine and red and green flowers and holds an orange cloth. Two shaven-headed men in saffron-orange robes stand beside him, one wearing rudraksha beads and holding an orange cloth, the other with orange cloth in hand. A uniformed security guard stands behind them near a metal gate, with a turquoise pillar on the right. The long hair, garlands and white shawl are cues for a person, appearing in person among the devotees.2012-07-23August 06 20092009-08-06Outdoor procession scene in bright sunlight with a crowd of devotees around a central figure. A man with long, swept-back dark hair wears a white garment with gold border, a red flower garland, and layered gold necklaces, smiling and clapping. Beside him, a man in an orange-saffron robe holds a tall gold staff with a gold finial, and several other figures in orange-saffron robes wear gold beaded necklaces with ornate pendants. To the right, a man in a cream embroidered kurta with an orange shawl wears glasses and gestures while speaking. A gold-topped parasol is visible above, and a few more people stand in the background. The central figure's long hair, white and gold attire and garlands, together with the orange-robed attendants and staff, suggest a ceremonial procession.2009-01-01A photograph taken at a temple pillared hall. A man with long dark hair and a white vibhuti line with a red mark on his forehead stands at the centre, wearing an orange saffron cloth wrap over his shoulders and body, a gold ornate pendant necklace, and a long garland of red flowers and white jasmine with green leaves draped from his neck to below his knees. Around him, a man in a white shirt and dhoti stands at left, and devotees in orange garments and green and white clothing crowd the background, with a young man in orange holding a pink cloth at right. Carved stone columns rise behind them. Swamiji (probable) based on the long hair, orange clothing and ornate garland cues.2009-08-06A photograph of a group walking outdoors past a pale green building with columns. A man in an orange saffron shawl and orange garment, with long swept-back dark hair, is garlanded with a thick multicolour flower garland of white, red and green blossoms. He is smiling broadly. Around him stand men in white shirts and dhotis, one wearing a rudraksha mala and another with a gold bracelet, plus a woman in a white sari with a maroon border. Some carry lanyard name badges. A white car is parked behind them.2009-07-30April 11 20122012-04-11Photograph of a crowd at a South Indian temple courtyard with ornate gopuram-style stone pillars and a colourful domed shrine behind. A central figure with long dark hair and a white forehead mark wears an orange saffron robe, a gold necklace and a long garland of red roses, white flowers and green leaves. Probable Swamiji: a central figure with long swept-back hair, saffron robes, ornate gold necklace and a red-and-white garland, presented as the honoured guest. Around him are men in white dhotis and orange-robed sannyasis, some with tilaka and vibhuti, and a man in a white shirt holding a silver staff. At left, a gold-covered palanquin or ratha is decorated with flower garlands, and a devotee in saffron stands nearby. Devotees press in from all sides, some with raised hands.2009-08-06Photo 11733652 +2 copiesPhoto 11730881 +1 copies
