A small brass oil lamp with a flame burns on a red patterned rug in front of him, and a silver bell and a dark cylindrical object rest beside him. A red tilak mark is visible on his forehead. The setting suggests a ritual offering such as tharpanam.2009-07-01July 01 20092009-07-01July 21 20092009-07-21A seated man with long, dark, swept-back hair and a red tilak on his forehead sits on a carved wooden chair, wearing an orange sleeveless wrap over a red undershirt and a long rudraksha mala. He holds a small brass lamp with a lit flame in one hand, while a second man in orange robes beside him holds a silver bell. Before them on a tray are gold and brass puja vessels, a kalasha, incense sticks, a silver bowl, dishes of almonds and fruit, and a silver platter. The scene appears to be a puja or aarti in progress. The man with the long hair and rudraksha mala matches the appearance cues associated with Swamiji, so the appearance-based label is probable.2007-11-12Two men in saffron-orange robes sit cross-legged on a mat during a puja. The man on the left wears a rudraksha mala and gold bangles, holding a small brass oil lamp in his right hand. The man behind him, also in orange with maroon borders, holds a brass bell-like bell and a small brass vessel, with smoke rising from a stick of incense. Puja items, brass dishes, flowers, a plastic container and paper lie on the orange cloth in front. A gold-ornate seat with red cushion stands in the background.2010-11-02A man with long dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead stands outdoors in an orange saffron robe with a gold bead necklace, holding a brass oil lamp with a curved handle and a lit flame at the top. Beneath it he holds a cut-glass tray. Blurred palm fronds and an overcast sky fill the background. He appears to be performing an aarti with the lamp. The figure has distinctive long swept hair, orange clothing and gold beads, a visible presentation cue, so this is a person in person; a second person in orange stands at the right edge holding the lamp.2010-10-07September 15 20112011-09-15
