A large group of shaved-headed, bare-chested men in white loincloths sits cross-legged on a sandy riverbank, apparently a sanyas initiation gathering at Varanasi. Most look forward with calm or serious expressions, and several rest their arms on their knees or thighs. Behind them, a figure in orange cloth stands at the upper edge of the frame. Sand, bare skin and white cloth dominate the scene, with a plastic bucket visible at upper right.2013-02-13April 29 20182018-04-29 +1 copiesJune 08 20172017-06-08April 29 20182018-04-29 +1 copiesJuly 08 20172017-07-08A group of men practise yoga on sand at a beach, seated on yellow-green mats in forward-bending postures with heads lowered. Most wear white dhotis and are bare-chested; one wears a dark blue top, and one in the background wears orange. In the foreground a grey-haired man in white dhoti sits folded forward with arms behind his back, a thin cord around his neck. A small green shrub grows at right.2018-04-29 +1 copiesFebruary 22 20172017-02-22A beach yoga session on sand with men seated on tan yoga mats in forward-bending postures, foreheads and hands low to the ground. Most participants are bare-chested, wearing white dhotis or patterned shorts, with thin sacred threads across their backs. A tripod-mounted camera and a dark backdrop with white tables stand behind them. In the foreground a man with greying hair and a red bindi holds his palms pressed together in anjali mudra while speaking, with a white thread across his bare chest. Beside him a bearded man in white dhoti-style cloth holds his palms together, and a bald man at the lower left wears a rudraksha mala and reddish sandal marks. Some devotees sit with eyes closed in prayer, and the background is softly blurred with more seated participants.2017-12-24April 16 20182018-04-16 +1 copies
