November 24 20152015-11-24November 24 20152015-11-24A photograph of a ritual at a stage with dark red drapes and a large gold ornate backdrop. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with a red and gold silk waist cloth stands at left, pouring water from a silver-wired kalasha pot topped with yellow flowers while another attendant holds a metal plate. Seated on a red cushioned throne at right is a man with swept-back hair, a crown-like bindi and tilak, wearing saffron and gold silk, a rudraksha mala, a long ceremonial gold necklace and gold armbands, with one hand raised in blessing toward the pot. Bare feet are visible. The scene reads as an abhishekam-style offering.2015-11-24November 24 20152015-11-24A photograph of a ceremony on a stage with dark red curtains. A seated man in saffron-orange robes and a long rudraksha mala with ornate gold necklaces sits on an elaborately carved gold throne, a red cushioned seat beside him, a microphone stand at right. A shirtless priest in a white dhoti with a red-and-gold border stands at left, holding a silver vessel and raising a green leaf to sprinkle or bless the seated man, who lowers his head with eyes closed. Gold bangles adorn the seated man's arms.2015-11-24A photograph of a ceremony on a stage with dark red velvet drapes. A seated figure in an orange-red turban, orange robes, a long rudraksha-style mala and ornate gold necklaces sits on an elaborately carved gold throne with red tiger-striped cushions, eyes closed, hands extended palm-up. Beside him a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a red-and-gold border bends forward, offering white cloth or flowers from his hands. A tall gold oil lamp stands beside the throne. Two people are visible.2015-11-24A seated man in rust-brown ochre robes and a gold-and-red-stone necklace sits on a red-cushioned silver throne, eyes closed, with rudraksha beads on his wrists and upper arm, and a tilak on his forehead. He holds a sprig of green leaves over a white woven basket held by a bare-chested priest in white dhoti with a red head cloth and a green-and-white shawl. Silver lion-form and ceremonial objects sit beside the throne. The setting appears to be a temple interior with stone walls and a saffron-clad figure in the background. Appearance cues include long swept-back hair, ochre robes, rudraksha malas and a gold necklace, so this is a probable Swamiji (probable) seated in a ritual blessing role; the priest assists with an offering basket.2017-09-26 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual at an outdoor courtyard setting with potted plants and a metal lattice frame behind. A shirtless attendant in white dhoti and a red headband pours liquid from a small metal vessel into a woven wicker basket held in his hands. Beside him, a seated figure in a saffron-red wrap and an ornate gold necklace with a rudraksha mala raises one arm holding a green leafy sprig, while a gilded throne with carved gold backing sits behind.
