A night-time photograph of a group of men in white ritual dhotis and shawls gathered under a corrugated roof, holding their hands together in prayer or reaching toward a lit oil lamp. A man in an orange-saffron garment with a tall ornate crown, a gold-beaded necklace and rudraksha-style beads holds the brass lamp with a bright flame, passing it among devotees; smoke rises above the flame. Several men wear white dhotis with sandalwood or vibhuti marks on their foreheads and rudraksha malas. The setting suggests a lamp-lighting ritual, possibly a Kartheekai Deepam aarti.2010-11-21A photograph of a ritual aarti during a padapuja-style gathering. In the foreground, a man in white dhoti with a red border and a gold-beaded necklace sits at left, a red bindi on his forehead, looking to the right. A man in white with a vertical white-and-red forehead mark and a gold-beaded mala holds up a silver multi-branched oil lamp with several lit flames. Behind them, women in orange and saffron saris sit with hands folded in prayer, and a woman in a yellow-and-white sari is seen at center. Lit oil lamps glow in the background, and a white plastic bowl sits on the floor.2010-09-08Night procession photo in a crowd of devotees with an umbrella overhead. Several are holding small flames in their hands, with bright lamps visible above and to the right. A man in front has a tilak on his forehead and is seated near the lower left edge. Several have white vibhuti or tilak marks on their foreheads and rudraksha malas around their necks; one in the foreground holds an open booklet. Some men at the top left and right raise lamps; the lighting is warm and the setting appears to be a devotional gathering or puja. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance cues in this image, so the candidate status remains uncertain.2010-11-10
