A seated man in saffron-orange robes, with long swept-back hair, red and white flower garlands, and a loose white shawl, holds a silver tray of cooked rice and fried snacks toward a kneeling older woman in a white sari with an orange shawl. She reaches out to receive the food. Before them on a banana leaf lie more offerings of rice, fried items and white sweets, and a red woven basket sits nearby. Behind them stands a small table draped in white with a flower garland and a framed portrait. Behind the table, a row of steel pots and vessels sits on a counter, and a standing crowd of devotees in white clothes watches, some with hands folded. A young man in an orange shawl sits at left.2006-10-12A large tented hall with white fabric ceiling and hanging lamps shows a food-offering ritual. In the foreground, a person with long dreadlocks and an orange shawl sits with their back to the camera, facing a bowl of yellow rice. Beside them, a man in white dhoti and white cap-like head covering, with a bare torso, holds a plate of yellow rice and serves it toward seated participants. Several white-capped helpers in white garments tend bowls and dishes on white cloths spread on the floor. Standing devotees behind them wear saffron, orange, red, and green saris, a white kurta and a sleeveless white top, some with garlands. A man in the far right wears a white shirt and pressed palms in anjali near a floral garland. Scattered yellow turmeric-stained rice covers the cloth, and a glittering curtain and paper lanterns decorate the ceiling. The scene matches a pinda-offering or annadan food ritual, with no visible a person identity cues.2016-12-18Photo of a food-serving scene at an indoor gathering. On the left, a bare-chested man in saffron-orange cloth with gold border and a beaded necklace sits and extends a hand holding rice-like food toward a man in white shirt and white dhoti-style trousers with a red-and-orange shawl and glasses, who receives it smiling. Behind them, women in white saris with gold borders and red shawls wear white hairnets and serve from steel bowls; a metal pan of yellow food and a banana leaf sit in front. Additional people in white and orange stand in the background.2015-06-15 +1 copiesMay 11 20162016-05-11June 15 20152015-06-15 +2 copiesA photograph of an indoor ritual food offering. A man in a rust-orange and saffron wrap sits on an ornate gold throne with a carved back, wearing a red-orange shawl and a beaded necklace, with a dark-haired face and a tilted head. He reaches down to take food from a young girl in a teal top who kneels before him and holds a bowl over a row of steel pots and vessels on a white-covered table. A silver tray holds green leaves and two small mounds of white food. Behind them, several men and women in white dhotis, saris and shawls with gold borders stand around the table, one woman holding a silver sieve. A red sofa and a blue backdrop appear at right. The setting suggests a prasadam or annadan serving.2015-12-20 +1 copiesA photograph of a food-preparation and serving scene in a hall with red sofas and tiled floor. A man seated on an ornate gold-and-red throne wears an orange-saffron dhoti with a yellow border, a rudraksha mala and a shawl, and is being served from a leaf placed in his hands by a man in white kneeling before him wearing a red-orange shawl and a rudraksha mala. Behind them, several men in white dhotis with red or orange shawls and rudraksha malas stand near steel vessels of food, a basket of leaves and small brass bowls on a tray, while a man in the background pours from a vessel. Small containers of yellow powder and jars sit on a white-covered table, and a fan is visible behind them. Seated on the throne-like chair, the central figure is prominent and is described as a person, given the saffron clothing and malas with a throne setting.2015-12-20 +1 copiesAnnadhan in 20152015-01-01 +2 copiesAnnadhan in 20152015-01-01 +3 copiesJanuary 03 20162016-01-03
