August 14 20172017-08-14Devotees in saffron-orange robes and orange turbans stand close together, many with rudraksha malas and white ash marks on their foreheads and arms. They hold up handfuls of yellow-green prasadam, a mixed sweet offering, some eating it and smearing it on their faces. A young boy in the center wears an orange turban, orange cloth and a rudraksha mala, and looks to his side while holding prasadam. The setting appears to be a festival offering with a bright backdrop.2017-08-14A photograph of a crowd of saffron-clad devotees at a naivedyam or prasada offering. The central bare-chested man has a shaved head, white tilak on his forehead, and a long rudraksha mala draped over his chest with a saffron shawl. He tilts his head back with his mouth open while a hand feeds him a yellow grain offering, and grains cling to his face and chest. Men around him wear orange or saffron turbans and wraps, rudraksha malas and beaded armbands. A hand at left holds a sweet offering, and a man at right with an orange turban also receives grains. The setting is indoors with a bright background.2017-08-14April 04 20182018-04-04August 14 20172017-08-14April 04 20182018-04-04A photograph of a group of young men and women in saffron-orange robes seated closely together indoors, many with white horizontal and dotted markings on their skin and rudraksha malas around their necks. In the foreground, a young man with long dreadlocks tied in a high bun feeds a sweet or prasad to a bare-chested man with a beard, who has his eyes closed and wears a saffron shawl and a rudraksha mala. Other participants sit behind them holding yellow flowers and wearing beaded bracelets, with a large red-lit screen visible in the background.2018-04-04August 14 20172017-08-14A young man with long dreadlocked hair wrapped in a bun stands in the foreground wearing an orange saffron shawl over bare shoulders, a thick rudraksha mala of dark brown beads, a pendant necklace, and white horizontal tilak stripes with a red vertical mark on his forehead and white stripes on his arms. He holds a handful of yellow turmeric or flower petals, offering them to a small child in front of him who reaches up and takes some from his hand. Around them, numerous people in orange and rust-coloured robes with shaved or topknotted heads move through a hall with a red door and a framed photograph on the wall. A crescent moon emblem appears in the upper frame. The scene suggests a ritual distribution of prasad or blessed offerings during a gathering.2018-04-04August 02 20162016-08-02August 14 20172017-08-14A photograph of two smiling young men in saffron-orange sannyasi cloth seated in a group ritual setting.
