Indoor ritual scene at a temple-like hall during a puja. A figure on the left wears an orange turban and orange robe with a rudraksha mala, holding a brass bell in one hand and raising the other hand with white ash markings on the arm. Behind him a group of people in white clothing stand with hands folded and watch; one older man in white holds his hands together in namaste, and a woman in white with a mala stands at right. On a low stone platform draped in orange cloth sit brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot, a small oil lamp, and red and orange flower petals. A standing man in white robes at the right reaches toward a tall brass lamp decorated with a garland. A lattice wooden screen covers the back wall.2004-07-02Outdoor ritual under a colourful striped canopy with a red and gold embroidered hanging at the left edge. A man in saffron-orange robes with a light orange head covering, a vertical white forehead mark and beaded mala necklaces holds a bell in one hand and a small ritual vessel over a flame in the other, performing an offering. Barefoot, he stands on a striped mat on reddish earth. Around him, several young men in white dhotis and white shirts with yellow scarves hold silver plates and trays of offerings, some wearing rudraksha mala beads. A man in white with a silver vessel stands at the left edge. A man in white dhoti and shawl holds a lamp tray near the cabinet. Several people in white dhotis and orange robes stand in a row, including a man in white with a grey-streaked head facing away.
