A photograph of a temple ritual in which a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a gold border and a white sacred thread bends forward to receive offerings. A woman wearing gold bangles and a red bracelet extends her hand over a wooden plate holding a yellow fruit, a small heap of grains or seeds and a metal spoon. Behind them, people in orange and saffron robes wear rudraksha malas, and one man on the right wears a deep red garment with a gold-toned border. A metal lion-shaped ornament is visible at the lower edge. The setting appears to be a temple puja.2017-10-10October 10 20172017-10-10August 07 20172017-08-07A photo of a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a green and gold border standing at left, holding a silver tray with yellow cloth and offerings toward a seated man at right. The seated man has grey hair, a bald crown, bare upper body and an orange-and-black band on his wrist, and reaches out with both hands toward the tray. Behind them, many seated devotees in white and bare-chested sit on colourful striped mats in an outdoor evening gathering. The seated man's identity is not established by appearance cues, so he is described by role only.2016-12-07September 10 20172017-09-10 +1 copiesA photograph of a seated woman in a maroon-red headwrap and matching red-gold shawl, wearing gold bangles and earrings, who reaches forward to place a long braided cord with a tassel around the neck of a bare-chested older man with grey hair who bows forward. Behind him, a bald priest in an orange-saffron dhoti with a rudraksha mala and a red-marked forehead assists, and several attendants in white dhotis and orange cloth stand nearby, one with a white dhoti and gold bangle. The setting is outdoors with a gravel ground and a golden chair with ornate carving at right. The seated woman is the most prominent figure, and the scene suggests a garlanding or ceremonial bestowal of a cord.2015-11-24February 06 20132013-02-06A ceremonial exchange in a tent setting with bright pastel drapes. A bare-chested elderly priest with long grey hair, white body markings and rudraksha malas stands at left, holding a brass tray of yellow fruit and reaching toward a central figure. On the left, a bare-chested man with long dark hair, a red-and-gold turban, orange-beaded mala and gold armband holds a small red object in his hands, with a bearded priest in cream and gold-bordered dhoti and shawl beside him. In the centre, a grey-haired man in a white sleeveless top and white dhoti stands with hands joined in prayer, bowing his head, while a younger man in a white t-shirt with a visible lanyard badge watches. Brass vessels and a lamp are visible on the floor behind them, and other devotees stand in the background, one woman in a red sari with rudraksha mala.2016-12-12A crowded ritual scene of devotees, many bare-chested with white ritual cloths and sandalwood or vibhuti marks on their bodies. In the right foreground a long-haired man in a rust-brown shawl, wearing a white and pink flower garland, gold armlets and bangles, extends his hands to receive or hand over small items to a bearded man with a rudraksha mala and a red tilak. Other devotees watch, one with arms folded, and a woman in the lower left leans in. Behind them stands a colourful pooja setup with a garland-draped table. The gathering suggests a Rudra Abhishekam-style practice, though the exact rite is not clearly visible.2016-12-02
