A bare-chested priest in a white dhoti stands in a gilded shrine doorway holding a brass plate with a lit oil lamp. Behind him a black deity murti wearing a silver crown, silver necklace, and a red and green silk garment sits on a dark pedestal decorated with yellow flowers. In the foreground, two clay oil lamps burn on a large brass tray. The doorway has a red curtain and a painted cloth hanging at left, and the floor border has red and green floral painting. The scene suggests an aarti or lamp offering at a temple shrine.

A shirtless man in a white dhoti with coloured border, wearing glasses and a long rudraksha mala, holds a brass aarti plate and stands before a black stone Shivalinga decorated with a pink flower. Behind him stands a dark deity murti dressed in red and gold silk with a crown, set in a golden arched niche with a green backdrop. Rows of smaller red-clad black murtis line the left wall. The setting suggests a puja or abhishekam; this one visible person is a priest or devotee performing aarti.
