February 05 20142014-02-05 +2 copiesA photograph inside a temple shrine. In the foreground, a shaved-headed man in an orange-saffron cloth with a rudraksha mala holds up a lit multi-flame brass aarti lamp, its flames blazing. Behind the lamp, a person in white sits before a golden throne-like altar (peetha) at the center of the shrine. Above the altar hangs a framed portrait of a man in an orange turban and saffron robe, with a golden frame and a crown-like top. Two large painted standing figures with crowns and multiple arms, in orange dhotis and green sashes, flank the doorway, and brass lamp stands line the walls. The shrine is decorated with pastel blue, orange and green painted columns and cloth. The man holding the aarti is a priest or devotee; the figure in the portrait is a printed image, not a physical person.2013-12-02November 12 20132013-11-12November 12 20132013-11-12December 06 20132013-12-06November 28 20132013-11-28 +10 copiesA photograph of a temple-style stage with painted blue and orange pillars and gilded figures. In the foreground, a shaved-headed priest in a dark wrap raises a multi-branched brass lamp of lit oil wicks toward the altar. Two young men in saffron-orange robes with white head bands sit cross-legged on the left, with brass oil lamps and offerings in front of them. At the centre, a framed portrait on a gilded throne-like seat shows a man in an orange turban and shawl, and a figure in white sits near the altar. Two tall gilded deity murti flank the altar, holding ritual objects. A small tablet sits on the floor at lower right. The scene suggests a puja with aarti.2013-12-06December 31 20132013-12-31 +2 copiesA temple sanctum with two painted dvarapala-style guardian statues in orange dhotis and green sashes, flanking a doorway and an ornate gold throne with a framed portrait on it. In the foreground a shaven-headed man in an orange-brown robe with a rudraksha-style necklace faces the throne, holding a tiered brass lamp stand with many lit candles. To the left, a man in orange robes sits with folded hands beside a seated man in a white dhoti, with brass lamps and ritual items on the floor. Several brass oil lamps stand along the walls and the floor is polished white. This is a photo of an ashram temple puja.2013-12-02April 14 20142014-04-14November 28 20132013-11-28 +3 copiesDecember 02 20132013-12-02
