2008 - Programs and Events at Kailaasa In Hyderabad2008 - Programs and Events at Kailaasa In Hyderabad +1 copiesIndoor ritual in a plain room with pale yellow walls. A man in white dhoti and white kurta with long swept-back hair stands at center holding a brass plate of yellow flowers, offering it to a seated child. A shaved-headed priest in orange robes and a rudraksha mala sits cross-legged at left, with a younger assistant in white beside him, next to a spread of brass lamps, fruit, and food offerings. Behind the altar, a framed portrait of a seated figure in orange robes is garlanded with marigolds and flanked by brass deity murti and kalasha-like vessels. Around twelve white-clad children sit on mats on the floor, several with white sacred ash marks on their foreheads, watching the offering.2007-10-21A photograph of a dense crowd of devotees reaching upward with raised hands toward a central figure at a festival procession. A man with long dark swept-back hair, an orange saffron robe, and layered gold-toned necklaces and mala beads stands at the center, smiling. Around him, many children and young adults in white and cream clothing press forward, while an older man in white with glasses and a white-haired woman in a patterned sari reach in. A golden trident-topped staff with red and yellow tassels is visible at the upper left, along with other saffron-robed figures and a yellow-shawled man at the left edge. Appearance-based probable match for Swamiji, shown in person with saffron robe and long hair; identity is inferred from appearance cues only.2008-12-23Photo 11726181 +2 copiesA dense crowd of devotees fills a hall with striped woven mats on the floor, many people dressed in white clothing. Girls with hair tied up and white flowers, some in white dresses and others in school-style outfits, stand among adults in white. Along the left side, rows of steel tables and a few cables and equipment sit near the mats. A man in glasses and a green shirt stands at right, and a man in white with a light shawl walks in the middle. Hanging yellow and orange banners decorate the ceiling area above the gathering.2008-07-17A photograph inside a white marble temple hall with polished reddish floors and carved white pillars. Around a dozen children sit on the floor in a semicircle facing a standing man in white dhoti and white kurta with an orange shawl around his shoulders and a mala at his neck. A standing teenage boy in a yellow shirt and grey trousers stands at left. A black stone lion sculpture sits at right. Behind them a framed portrait labelled with a name sits on a draped stand with garlands, and a second framed portrait of a woman in orange sari with a garland rests on a blue-draped seat. Orange marigold garlands hang above a doorway. The children wear teal, blue, red, lime and orange outfits with flowers in their hair. The man's appearance does not clearly match a known candidate, so no identification is made.February 09 20082008-02-09Photograph of a crowded indoor hall with many attendees, mostly young men in white shirts and some with orange headbands, standing close together. In the right foreground a man in white robes with a light blue patterned wrap and a light blue turban, long dark hair, and a white garland, extends his right hand with palm raised toward the crowd, a gesture of blessing. Swamiji (probable): the long hair, blue turban, and white robe with garland match the page's presentation cues. Lower left, a woman in white with gold bangles raises her palm toward him. Orange banners and hanging lights are visible in the background.2008-02-09A photograph of a fire ritual at an indoor ashram space with a crowd seated behind a low brick-and-stone fire altar. In the foreground a figure in an orange robe with long dark hair, and a person in white beside them, hold and offer items over the altar, which is decorated with white flowers and dried grass. A brass bowl with a wooden ladle sits on the altar. Several young boys in white and light shirts sit close together, one holding a small brass vessel. Behind them adults in white and pale clothes watch, some wearing glasses, and a man with a rudraksha-style bead necklace is seated among them. A homa-style fire ritual with a Gurukul initiation feel is visible, with the presiding robed figure matching the orange-robed appearance of a person.2006-10-02February 09 20082008-02-09December 23 20082008-12-23
