A standing man with long dark hair wears an orange-brown dhoti and shawl and pours an offering from a steel bowl into a small fire built from stacked yellow-brown bricks. Two shaved-headed attendants in orange-brown robes with white forehead markings kneel on a striped green mat beside a steel bowl and a steel tray of offerings. Behind them stands a golden throne with tiger-skin upholstery and a red cushion. On the right a kalasha-like vessel is decorated with white flower garlands and an orange cloth, with fruit and steel plates in front. The priest on the left, in orange-brown dhoti with white markings on face and arms, sits with hand raised near his mouth. Offerings sit on brass plates, including garlands, fruit, and flowers. A circular purple logo appears at top left.2013-05-28A photograph of a fire ritual inside a temple-like hall. A yellow brick fire pit, the homa kund, burns with bright flames in the foreground, with fruit and flower offerings laid on a tray at right. A priest bare-chested in a rust-red dhoti and turban, with white markings on his body and a bead mala, bends over the offerings. Two young men in saffron-orange dhotis, one holding a silver plate and both with white body markings and bead necklaces, stand with palms joined at left. A man in saffron-orange cloth with a matching turban kneels at the left, tending the fire, while a second priest in orange with bare upper body and white markings stands behind holding a ladle-like implement. Seated on a gold, ornate throne with a red cushion and red floor covering is a bearded man in saffron robes with a white-marked forehead and long hair, who appears to be the central figure receiving honour. Brass pots, a kalasha-like vessel, bananas and coconuts, pink flower garlands and green leaves surround the fire, and a few onlookers stand in the dim background.2018-05-29A fire ritual at night in a decorated hall. At centre, a man with long dark hair and a white halo-like disc behind his head sits on a carved wooden chair, wearing a red robe, a gold-and-red beaded necklace and a shoulder-bare drape. He holds a long wooden stick over a silver bowl. To the left, a man in orange robes and a rudraksha-style cord holds a leafy stalk and sits before a silver vessel with a coconut and leaves. To the right, a man in orange with a white bead mala sits beside a bright brick fire pit. Behind them hang red and green fabric, strings of beads, garlands and potted flowers. Silver bowls of offerings sit on the floor. This appears to be a homa (fire ritual) with a seated figure offering into the flames.2006-10-21May 29 20182018-05-29 +1 copies
