Outdoors beneath a large banyan tree with aerial roots, a woman in an orange sari-style robe with red-beaded and wooden mala necklaces and a red bangle holds her hands up in front of a brass oil lamp with a visible flame, eyes closed. Beside her a man in a brown striped kurta and orange shawl stands with hands clasped. On the right a shaved-headed young man in a white kurta with a yellow shawl holds the lamp. Several other people in white and striped shirts stand behind them under the tree, and a woman in a blue top stands at the left. The scene suggests a puja or aarti at the tree.

A woman with short red hair wears an orange sannyasi-style robe and a rudraksha mala, her hands pressed to her chest in a gesture of reverence. Beside her, a woman in a white sari with a bordered edge holds a brass lamp with a bright flame, and a man in a yellow shawl and white garment performs the arati near a large banyan tree. Several people in white and casual clothes stand around in an outdoor setting, with a paved platform and a small white structure visible behind them.

Around them, several men in white dhotis and shirts, a bare-chested elderly man with white tilak markings and beads, and a child in yellow stand with hands folded in prayer. On the right foreground is a brass lamp and a tray with flowers and offerings on a stone platform. The scene shows a puja with an oil lamp and bell under the banyan tree.

A photograph of an outdoor ritual at a large banyan tree with many aerial roots. In the centre, a person in a bare-chested, draped red-orange cloth and a white flower garland holds a lit oil lamp (aarti) toward the tree while speaking. Around the tree, flower garlands in white and orange-red hang in swags on the trunk and roots. Behind and to the left, a group of about a dozen men in white shirts and white dhotis stand with palms pressed together in prayer. A person at the far left holds a gold-topped staff. The ground is bare earth with a dark stone slab in the foreground. The person in red has no visible crown, turban or rudraksha, so the identity is uncertain.
