Four men in white dhotis with colourful borders stand around an ornate golden deity murti shrine adorned with yellow and red marigold garlands and a kalasha-like tiered altar. A man in an orange-gold brocade shirt holds a microphone and chants while another man beside him holds a microphone. A shirtless priest reaches up to adorn the murti with a flower while another attendant holds a metal vessel. A small fire burns in front of the blue-draped altar with marigold offerings. Gold canopy and white drapery form the backdrop.2015-07-17Photograph of a ritual inside a decorated tent. A man in a red-orange dhoti and shawl, with a gold waist belt, a long gold-and-beaded necklace and gold armbands, stands with palms pressed together in prayer beside a fire pit with a bright flame in the foreground. Behind him, women in white saris stand near brass oil lamps and a garlanded white floral arch. On the right, a deity murti is adorned with flower garlands, a blue and gold cloth and a decorative crown, set on a striped cloth-draped platform beside gold ornamental metalwork. A red cloth covers a table with brass lamps. The setting suggests a homa or puja with flowers and fire offerings.2016-05-24
