Outdoor night homa at an ashram, with a large open fire pit blazing at left. A seated man in a white-and-gold dhoti sits in front of a fire pit, holding a metal bowl and a ladle. Beside him, a central figure wearing a saffron-and-gold robe, rudraksha mala and ceremonial gold necklace sits on an ornate red and gold throne, hands joined in front of him. Seated to the right, several shaved-headed young monks in orange robes sit on a cloth, holding small offerings and brass vessels. Standing figures in orange robes stand behind the throne, and a pedestal fan and a bright white car are visible in the background.

Night outdoor ritual on a raised platform under a corrugated roof. A fire pit burns at centre in front of a decorated deity murti with garlands and a gold arch, draped in blue and maroon cloths. A shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and cloth wrap raises a kalasha lamp toward the altar. Around the fire, several shaved-headed sannyasis in saffron-orange robes sit or kneel, and one in a maroon-and-gold wrap sits cross-legged at the front, facing the fire, as in a homa or yagna. At right, a man with long hair and an orange-saffron robe sits with palms joined on a gold-trimmed red throne, apart from the ritual group. A table fan and dried grass bundles lie nearby.

A photograph of a night homa at a brick-lined square fire pit with a large flame, with several saffron-robed sannyasis seated in a row around it. Their heads are shaved, and they wear rudraksha malas and orange shawls, reading from open papers and books. On the right, a woman in red and maroon sari with garlands and red vibhuti on her forehead sits on a wooden seat holding a tray of black seeds. Behind them a seated crowd in white and saffron, a dark temple structure and a large decorated palanquin are visible. Small brass plates, offerings and oil lamps sit on red cloth around the fire.

Night outdoor fire ritual, a homa with a large flame rising from a stone fire pit on a raised platform. In the foreground, two men in white dhotis with white body markings and rudraksha malas kneel by the pit, one raising a hand toward the fire. Behind the fire, several young men in saffron and orange robes with shaved heads sit and chant, one in orange with a mala. Brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot, flower offerings, yellow marigolds and small bowls of offerings sit on the pit edge. On the left, a seated figure in orange sits on an ornate gold-trimmed red throne, partly obscured by smoke. In the background, a gilded arched shrine frames a deity murti with garlands, and white-clad devotees sit in rows. A blue cloth covers a table at left edge.

Night outdoor homa under a corrugated roof. A sacred fire blazes at centre before a gold arched shrine with garlanded deity murti and marigold garlands. Around the fire sit about six shaved-headed young men and boys in saffron/orange robes; one boy wears a red-and-gold cloth, and a priest in white dhoti with a white headwrap pours offerings. Seated on a red and gold throne at right, a person in orange robes and long hair watches; a standing attendant in orange stands nearby beside a fan. Blue and pink cloths drape the altar, and a brass vessel and dried leaves lie in front.

A night homa ritual at an outdoor fire altar, with a rectangular white-and-yellow fire pit blazing in the centre. Around it sit about ten people: several shaved-headed young boys and monks in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha malas, one older man in orange with a grey beard, and two men in white dhotis with white shawls, one wearing a white turban and the other with a white-marked forehead. Brass pots and a lamp stand beside the fire, with bananas, coconuts and flower garlands at the right edge. Spectators in white and dark clothes sit in the background.

Night-time outdoor homa at an ashram. A fire burns in a square yellow-draped fire pit at centre, surrounded by brass vessels, flower baskets and red rose petals on striped mats. A central figure sits on an ornate gold throne with a red cushion, wearing a red-brown cloth, a beaded rudraksha mala and a gold necklace. Around him, several men in saffron-orange cloths with white forehead markings and bare upper bodies attend the ritual; one in white dhoti with a shaved head stands near a white-draped pedestal. A man in a cream dhoti with gold border stands at right. Strings of lights hang overhead. About ten people visible, with more devotees seated at the edges.

Night outdoor homa at a temple-style setting. A large fire burns in a pit at left-centre, flames rising beside a small deity murti and brass vessel. Two young attendants in saffron-orange garments with white undergarments kneel or stand before the fire; one kneels with hands folded in prayer. Two standing figures in saffron and white cloth frame the left edge with garlanded shoulders. At right, a seated figure in saffron robes and a red-orange shawl wears a marigold garland and sits on a gold-carved chair beneath a red and gold canopy, with a camera on a tripod nearby. Striped red-and-white walls form the background.
