A photograph of a communal meal being served in a plain hall with a concrete floor and a low red-painted ledge on the left. A woman in a white sari with yellow borders, bangles and a red-marked hair parting stoops with a steel pot, ladling food onto a banana leaf. Several men in white dhotis and white shirts with orange saffron shawls sit in a row on the floor, eating from leaves in front of them, with brass vessels nearby. Another man in white stands at the back and a figure in orange sits near a fan in the background. Bamboo poles lean against the ledge.
