Night outdoor fire ritual under a large tree with bare branches. A figure in saffron-orange robe and matching orange head wrap sits cross-legged on a low wooden seat before a yellow-rimmed square fire pit with sticks and kindling, holding hands in gesture and wearing a rudraksha mala. Around him, men in white ritual clothes sit with hands folded in prayer, one with a full beard and glasses, and women in white saris stand or kneel nearby, one bending toward the offerings. A copper pot and small brass lamps with offerings sit at the front.2003-03-01 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa being performed under a thatched open-sided pavilion. At the centre, a bearded sadhu with bare torso and orange dhoti sits cross-legged on a raised platform behind a fire pit, with a seated man in an orange robe and orange headwear beside him. Behind them, standing devotees in white and a bare-chested man in a yellow dhoti watch. A woman with a braided hair and a yellow garment sits in the foreground beside offerings of coconuts, pots, red-marked fruit and a kalasha. Scattered garlands, mango leaves and a tall wooden post hang nearby. The page does not show the event beyond the homa, so the orange-robed figure is described by role only.
