Centre: a brass thali holding a small brass bowl of rose petals and a flame-like brass lamp. Around it: a brass bell, a brass oil lamp, incense sticks in holders, a folded red cloth, a copper yantra plate, a small brass figure of a deity, a white conch shell, a steel bowl of red liquid, and a bowl of rose petals. A small photograph of a smiling woman and a printed card of a richly decorated deity form with garlands sit on the tray. The scene reads as a home or ashram altar prepared for puja.2013-04-13A puja arrangement on a grey stone table. Oil lamps burn at several points, including a tall brass lamp at the top and small lamps at the left edge. On the left, a small figure in saffron-orange robes with a red turban stands on a wooden base, a murti or statue rather than a person. Red flowers, a brass kalasha-style vessel, small brass bowls holding white and yellow offerings, a bell, a spoon, green leaves and a rudraksha-style mala are arranged around the tray. A striped cloth edge appears at the lower right. No physical people are visible.2017-01-22A close overhead photograph of a puja arrangement on a woven brown mat. A brass plate holds a small red-robed figurine of a seated guru with a tall orange crown, beside a white conch shell, marigold petals and green leaves. A hand holding a flower reaches toward the figurine, while another hand is folded in front of a second brass plate with red flowers. Brass bowls with a rice-like grain, a brass kalasha-style vessel, an oil lamp with a lit flame, and an incense stick complete the offering. Only two partial arms are visible, so no full person is shown. The figurine is a statue, so no in-person a person candidate is identifiable from appearance.2017-01-22January 28 20142014-01-28A photograph of a ritual puja arrangement laid out on a striped cloth over a striped sofa. A framed photograph at the top shows a man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala seated before a large tree; it is a printed portrait, not a physical person. Around it are brass items: a hand bell, a small brass pot, an incense stick in a holder, a brass lamp with a flame, a shallow brass plate of marigold petals, white jasmine, frangipani and rose petals, a conch shell, a small brass cup of water, a plate of tulsi-like leaves, a mound of rudraksha beads, an orange cloth with a yellow marigold and a beaded necklace, and a red hibiscus with white and yellow flowers on a brass tray. No physical people are visible.2012-10-16Overhead photo of a Varalakshmi Puja altar arranged on a red-brown woven mat over a white marble floor.
