Night photograph of two sculpted deity murti seated side by side, decorated with green and orange marigold garlands, silver crown-like headdress, and draped red and white cloth. A brass oil lamp with a lit flame stands at left, and dark leaves and flower petals are scattered on the ground. No physical people are visible; the figures are statues. Blue and green stage lighting tints the scene.2015-12-11Photo 11696761September 24 20172017-09-24 +2 copiesDecember 11 20152015-12-11December 11 20152015-12-11April 05 20122012-04-05December 11 20152015-12-11A silver kalasha pot topped with a coconut and green mango leaves stands at the centre of a ritual setup, with yellow and red flowers arranged on a silver tray at its base. To the left, fruits including limes and apples sit on a brass plate beside folded red cloth on a purple runner. In the blurred background at night, several seated devotees on orange mats and one standing figure in white and orange clothing face the altar. Their faces are not clear enough to describe.2011-10-26A ritual fire ceremony at dusk. A person in an orange-yellow garment reaches toward a brass lamp with a large flame, beside a homa-style fire pit built of stacked red bricks. Flower garlands in red, yellow, white and purple drape a folded textile and a golden ornamental frame. Brass vessels with lids, a small oil lamp, bananas, mangoes and other fruit sit on a striped woven mat. Behind the altar stands a figure in saffron-coloured cloth beside a golden decorative arch, and a partially visible deity murti.2016-03-06 +1 copiesMarch 06 20162016-03-06 +1 copiesNight-time outdoor ritual at Phuket, Thailand. A deity murti or image draped in marigold and red flower garlands sits on a table covered with a magenta cloth, with a lit oil lamp at left and brass vessels, a kalasha and fruit offerings nearby. A shirtless man in orange dhoti and red rudraksha-style beaded necklace sits on the ground at right, raising his hand toward the altar, while a second man in glasses and light clothing sits beside him. Two women in light garments sit in the dim background. The ground is dark with teal-tinted lighting, consistent with a puja or mantra process.2015-12-11July 17 20132013-07-17
